Currently the Group Manager Corporate Services for Barnardos New Zealand, Niamh is a chartered accountant by profession with 20 years' work experience, mainly in the public and not for profit sectors in Europe, US, Africa and Australasia.  These roles have included strategic and business planning, risk management, finance, human resources, information technology and property management in both operational and strategic leadership capacities in a range of multicultural environments.
 
Of her professional career, Niamh says she enjoys the challenge of making a measurable strategic contribution to organisations which enhance and empower communities and cultures, rather than focusing solely on the bottom line.
 
Niamh has been a member of Amnesty International in both New Zealand and Ireland, commenting”I have always been passionate about the work of Amnesty, as I am a firm believer that each person has the right to achieve their potential in life."

Niamh was co-opted to the Governance Team in March 2008 to replace Pattrick Smellie, and was voted on to the Governance Team in May 2008
