Annual Meeting 2008
Wellington was host to Amnesty International Aotearoa's Annual Meeting ("AM") this year, which occured during the weekend of May 9th to 11th at Te Whaea National Dance and Drama Centre. The theme was: 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - changing world, constant values.
The new Statute was voted in, see link below. The Annual Report 2008 and AM minutes from 2008 are available for download below. All participants have been sent a CD containing all presentations and the minutes.
Keynote Speaker : Terry Hicks:
Terry Hicks, a tireless campaigner for truth and freedom, and father of David Hicks who spent more than five years in the Gauntanamo Bay detention camp, was the Keynote Speaker on the Sunday. His very well-received talk was preceded by several media interviews, the links to which are listed below:
