Communications Internships

Days per week: 20 - 40 hours

Nature of Work:

Key tasks will include the maintenance of our cyber-activist network; production of HTML emails (e-newsletters); updating and maintaining the campaigns and other content of the AIANZ website. You will need an excellent command of English and a strong eye for detail. Applicants will ideally have experience and skills in managing web content, editing and design. Experience in a range of web-design platforms is desirable, particularly Opensource software.

The communications intern will also coordinate our Audio Visual Library, playing an important role in resourcing and supporting activists though AV resources. You will be responsible for obtaining, archiving and making available AV resrouces and complementary informational resources to AI activists.

The communications intern is also responsible for maintaining the Urgent Action Network (Amnesty's letter-writing network) and providing the members with daily urgent actions on individuals at risk.


Additional skills and experience required

  • Interest in or knowledge of campaigning;
  • Interest in or knowledge of human rights;
  • Some knowledge of campaigning organisations and AI's work;
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills;
  • Ability to "multi-task";
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience of working in a team;
  • Fluent level of written and spoken English.
  • Additional knowledge of HTML, Java script welcomed
