Ideas for your Freedom Challenge

Have a look some of our different ideas for events that you can host during Freedom Challenge! They are just a few of our ideas....feel free to think outside the box!

You can also click here to check out what ideas some of you have already come up with at our Freedom Challenge workshops.

  • ‘Keep the heartbeat for human rights’ by using music, instruments, sound, beats, noise
  • Create giant murals/chalking/images/symbols/balloons of a heart or ‘heart beating’ and get people to add to them if appropriate
  • School debate or speech about freedom of expression being at the heart of human rights
  • Hold a movie night with a human rights theme
  • Hold an assembly or gathering and do the ‘toast to freedom’ in celebration of Amnesty’s and activists' successes
  • Celebrate successes and the ‘lighting of the Amnesty candle’ by making, decorating or lighting your own candles as a group.
  • Collect donations via a candle made up of coins.
  • Throw a birthday party for Amnesty
  • Hold an art exhibition, concert, fashion show, dance off, trivial pursuit or quiz night to raise awareness and funds
  • Organise a march with students dressed up as lifeguards, doctors, nurses  or superheroes, holding banners about human rights issues
  • Create a simple choreography on a human rights song, invite everyone in your school to dance it with you and make a film of it. (e.g Nickleback's ‘If everyone cared’)
  • Get sponsorship for doing something like a race, or denying yourself of something
  • Pick some of your favourite Amnesty successes, where positive change has been made, people have been freed and promote them to the public and share the story
  • Create a memorial for human rights in your school
