Join a Regional Team or Local Group
| Members of the Tauranga-Moana group hold one of their monthly Toasts to Freedom to celebrate Amnesty's 50th Birthday. |
Our local or regional team members are the face of Amnesty in their community. These teams take part in many activities from meeting with their local MP’s, to hosting speaking engagements, to holding demonstrations or vigils.
Teams usually meet monthly to take action on our priority campaigns & latest appeals - and help us to build pressure for positive change by writing letters, hosting stalls to encourage others to take action and raising awareness. They organise and participate in fundraising events including our annual public action Freedom Week.

Regional Teams
Regional Teams take a regional approach - exploring opportunities or organising events of significance to the region they are in; supporting local groups and student groups and building resources of use to Amnesty International and the wider public.
Local Groups attract people living in the same area, who are thinking globally but acting locally for the protection and promotion of human rights. Some groups have a special focus area called an Individual at Risk file - where they take long-term action on behalf of particular individuals.
