Environmental Defenders Network (EDeN)

Amnesty International's Environmental Defenders Network (EDeN) exists to:
  • Protect environmental and community activists at risk;
  • Defend environmentally displaced persons and people impacted by a lack of environmental sustainability;
  • Demand corporate responsibility and the upholding of environmental standards where they impact on human rights.

At heart it is basic AI work - focussing on individuals or communities facing ill-treatment and persecution for exercising basic freedoms - in particular, people who are working for the protection of the environment or on development issues. It also works on behalf of victims of environmental destruction.

We promote our campaigns and actions on these web pages and in our regular newsletter.

EDeN also works with environmental, community and development organisations to achieve our common aims.
