Country profiles
EDeN compiles profiles of countries with serious human rights concerns that have an environmental element to them. They are compiled primarily from Amnesty International sources and include links to the source materials. Priority is given to those countries where EDeN has already acted on cases.
The issues covered include:
- murder, attacks and threats against environmental activists
- poverty stemming from pollution and destruction of habitat
- contamination of water sources
- evictions from traditional lands to make way for mining
- urban evictions of the poor and marginalised
- dereliction of corporate responsibility to communities and their environments
Sources of information:
- Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand
- Amnesty International’s International Secretariat and other Al sections
