How does EDeN work?

EDeN focuses on individuals or communities facing ill-treatment and persecution for exercising basic freedoms - in particular, people who are working for the protection of the environment or on development issues. It also covers other human rights issues which have an environmental aspect to them.

•    We identify appeal cases from Amnesty International sources. (An example might be a community leader who has opposed illegal logging and has received death threats).

•    We provide supporting materials for action and publicity to participating groups and members. Usually we supply materials in pdf format for easy sharing and distribution.

•    We run longer term campaigns on major issues such as the action on the impact of oil pollution in the Niger Delta.

•    We are always looking for new members for the network to expand our effectiveness.

•    We work with other organisations which have an interest in environmental or development issues to develop appropriate publicity and joint actions.

•    We are compiling profiles of major problem countries and issues.
