Amnesty International launched a new report Where is the dignity in that?’ Women in Solomon Islands denied sanitation and safety". This report highlights how women in the Solomon Islands are at grave risk of Sexual and Gender-based Violence (SGBV) with a significant number of women experiencing abuse. The report makes clear how in informal settlements the lack of clean water and adequate sanitation exacerbates the risks they face.

The report was launched on Tuesday September 6 with invited guest Jocelyn Lai, from the Solomon Islands Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). (link to bio) Jocelyn spoke to media and other attendees at the conference including non-governmental organisations such as Oxfam, Family Planning, UNICEF and UN Women about her first hand experience dealing with SGBV in the Solomon Islands.

The report launch attracted strong media pick-up nationally and throughout the Pacific raising global awareness on the extent of SGBV in the Pacific
