WRAP panel discussion - Women, Politics and Change
WRAP (Women's Rights and Advocacy in the Pacific), hosted a discussion to talk about the role of women in public and political life in the Pacific on Wednesday September 7. Speakers included Roshika Deo (Fiji Women’s Rights Movement), Jocelyn Lai, Helen Hakena (Leitana Nehan Women’s Development Agency Buka, Papua New Guinea - PNG), Ema Tagicakibau, and Siava Tekafa (National Women’s Council, Tuvalu). The discussion involved the audience and ensured everyone had the chance to share their thoughts on women’s roles in politics throughout the Pacific.
The event provided a successful platform for Pacific Women’s organisations and human rights defenders to network and discuss the significant issues affecting women in the Pacific and how to best address them.
