What?

The annual Freedom Challenge a chance for New Zealand’s youth to take action for human rights.

Every year there is a different theme. It’s up to you and your group to register, take the reins and highlight the theme in a way that will engage, inspire and educate people in your school and community.

The theme for Freedom Challenge 2019 is Iran: Lives hanging in the balance. We're challenging Iran’s horrific use of the death penalty against child offenders.

Who?

Freedom Challenge is open to youth all over New Zealand. That means you! We're encouraging young leaders and activists to get amongst it and campaign for a good cause.

When?

Freedom Challenge officially runs in the week of 12 August, which marks International Youth Day. If this doesn't work for your school or uni, pick a time that does and let us know!

How?

Be as creative as you can! Campaign with your voice, use your social media accounts, host an event, take over your school assembly or dabble in arts and drama.  We have put together a pack with all the resources you’ll need to make sure you have a successful Freedom Challenge this year.
