Director - Fundraising, Marketing and Communications - Tāmaki Makaurau

It’s an exciting time for Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand. With bold plans to grow our income and supporter base, we are investing in fundraising and brand strategy to ensure the future sustainability of our human rights programmes.

Reporting to the Executive Director and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, this newly shaped role will lead our fundraising, marketing, and communications functions while working alongside a driven and talented global team committed to human rights.

You’ll drive the strategy and delivery of sustainable income streams across individual giving, high-value donors, philanthropic partnerships and gifts in wills whilst using our Salesforce system. You will bring a strong consumer marketing lens—communicating and delivering results through digital platforms, events, direct marketing and end-to-end campaigns that capture hearts and minds.

You’ll spark growth through digital innovation, high-value donor engagement and matched-giving initiatives, while creating campaigns and messages that capture hearts, inspire action and connect with new audiences.

Ko wai koe | About you

You will be a strategic and inspiring fundraising leader who:

  • Brings proven senior-level experience in fundraising, marketing and brand growth, ideally in a charity or for-purpose organisation.
  • Has a strong record of delivering income targets across diversified revenue streams and platforms.
  • Understands and uses Salesforce or similar CRM systems to drive supporter journeys and insights.
  • Has excellent leadership skills with at least five years’ experience developing high-performing teams.
  • Has outstanding storytelling and communication skills, able to engage donors, partners and the public through digital, events, direct marketing and innovative campaigns.
  • Is creative, innovative and excited to try something different—someone who thrives in a small, agile team without too much structure.
  • Is values-led, motivated to create change, and able to formulate plans and realign resources quickly to deliver impact.
  • Holds strong financial acumen and is comfortable making data-driven decisions.
  • Shows a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to Amnesty’s global pledge to be an anti-racist organisation.
