How to get started

Woohoo! You've taken your first step to a fantastically-fun-filled-fundraiser for Amnesty International.

Here's how to get started: 

  1. Dream up and decide on your fundraising idea – if you are stuck check out our fundraising ideas page amnesty.org.nz/fundraising-ideas to get your creative juices going, have a search for community fundraising inspiration online or get brainstorming with some friends.  

  1. Register your idea at amnesty.org.nz/register-fundraise and let us know if you require anything from us. Please note your fundraising actvity must be approved by us first if you wish to use our logo to promote your fundraiser. 

  1. Set up a Givealittle page (if required) by simply clicking 'Fundraise' on our profile at givealittle.co.nz/org/amnestynz, set a goal donation amount and make it clear why you are raising donations for Amnesty International. The more personal the better. Once your page is ready you can get promoting. Send the link to all your friends, family, anyone and everyone you know really, and share the link far and wide on your social media pages. Need help? Don't be afraid to ask!

  1. Share your journey – Post updates in the lead up and during your fundraiser. Take lots of pictures so you can share them on social media and tag Amnesty International NZ, or email them through to us: fundraising@amnesty.org.nz. We would love to see how you got on and hear more about how you found the fundraising process. 

  1. Send in your funds – If you fundraised through Givealittle the donations you collect will be sent to us automatically. If you organised an activity that was offline you can deposit the raised amount into our account (details sent when you register) or send us a cheque. Cash donations can be dropped off at our office. Please do get in touch after your event to let us know the final amount of your fundraiser so we can help you get them in and recognise your efforts.
