The battle for Raqqa, so-called capital and main stronghold of the armed group calling itself the Islamic State is taking a heavy toll on civilins trapped under fire in the city.

This report looks at how hundreds of civilians have been killed and injured since an offensive to recapture 'the capital' began in June. Survivors and witnesses tell of booby traps, snipers and a constant barrage of military strike by the US-led coalition forces and of the bombardment of civilians in villages and camps by the Russian- backed Syrian government forces.
