Leaving a bequest in your Will

At the very core of Amnesty International is the belief that the actions of individuals can make a difference.

What better way to demonstrate this than by leaving a legacy to us and helping to change the future for the better?

Having an up-to-date Will is one of the most important things you can do to ensure your wishes will be carried out exactly as you wanted. And it’s the only way to protect the rights of your children and loved ones.

You can also make a contribution to a future that keeps us working for everyone’s human rights.

Founded in 1961, we are a global movement, recognised with a Nobel Peace Prize for our achievements.

Amnesty International’s investigators are constantly at work in war zones where civilians are being targeted and border crossings where refugees are being denied safety. They get the news out about people imprisoned because of who they are or what they believe. They meet with survivors of persecution and torture. They tell the stories that would otherwise go untold.

Once we have established the facts we set to work lobbying for action behind the scenes and bringing cases to world attention through the media. We mobilise our seven million supporters around the world to take action – writing letters, sending emails, pressuring leaders to do the right thing.

This has produced extraordinary results. Thousands of prisoners of conscience have been released. Torturers have been brought to justice. Governments have been persuaded to change their laws and practices.

A bequest is a very special gift that makes a statement about your values, beliefs and vision for the world. It is your chance to let your voice ring out beyond your lifetime. We do not accept funding for our human rights work from any government. It is your support that makes Amnesty International non-political and unbiased – independent of any party or ideology. Every gift in every Will strengthens our human rights work and influences generations to come. Your gift will ensure that Amnesty International will be able to stand side-by-side with those whose human rights are being violated worldwide. At the very core of Amnesty International is the belief that the actions of individuals can and do make a difference.
