Remuera Group

Auckland

The Remuera Group of Amnesty International welcomes members from the eastern and southern suburbs of Auckland. We are one of Amnesty International New Zealand’s most long-standing groups, and with a focus on both fundraising and campaigning, were winners of the section’s 2012 Dove Award for excellence in activism.

We boast experienced letter-writers, stall-holders and event organisers.

Our campaigns at present include campaigning on behalf of our Prisoners of Conscience Liu Ping from China, Iwao Hakamada, Japan's longest-serving prisoner on death row and Zunar, the Malaysian cartoonist risking imprisonment for anti-corruption tweets. We also have expertise with regard to campaigning in South East Asia (Philippines, Indonesia) and the Pacific

We excel at fundraising, including running an annual quiz night, plus film-screenings and always plenty for new members to do. Please do contact us.

We meet at 7.30pm, the third Tuesday of the month, in St Johns. Address provided on request - so get in touch and see you soon!
